Dear Ms. O:Desmond loves to read! He says it over and over again and it’s such a personal thrill for me because I can think of nothing better to do than to surround myself with books and curl up with them!
I appreciate all you do to encourage him and introduce him to new literature. I can’t believe I’m doing this but I’d like Des to hold off from reading Goosebumps – the fear genre isn’t a great favorite of mine, it’s true, but it’s also problematic for sleeping and sweet dreaming. Not to mention going upstairs alone at night time to take a shower while I’m downstairs cleaning up after dinner. Also, nighttime strolls are fraught with tight grips and whimpers! Blah! Who needs it? FEAR?! I defy you! :)

"Welcome to the dead house", "horror land", "terror trips" and "say cheese & die" sound like perfect titles for a 7year old! Why so stuffy sis?1?!? ;) In reality... why oh why suggest these books??? Are school children really required to read such garbage? TERRIBLE choice!

I read this and I kind of laughed. I understand that you want to encourage good reading, but of course, terror reading is not ideal. You're a good mom Heather!
